I am likely cut from a different cloth than your typical aspiring chef.

I’ve spent the last decade climbing the corporate ladder — from entry level business analyst to upper management at one of the fastest growing companies in Canada. I’ve spent over 700 combined nights in hotel rooms across North America; been fired, acquired and displaced during corporate bankruptcy. For the last few years, I’ve worked at a fast-paced tech start-up in Toronto, while doing double-time at two of the top restaurants in Canada — Eigensinn Farm and Haisai. 

Canadian-born, with Portuguese roots, I grew up in a family of fantastic cooks. Every Sunday, and every holiday, was spent in the kitchen and around the table. In Portuguese homes, there are two kitchens; one upstairs, always pristine and almost never used; and one in the basement, where we cook, eat, argue and laugh. That’s where the heart is. And for as long as I can remember, that’s where mine’s been, too.

I started Eats ‘n Hops in 2017 to share my exploration of food and beer with you. So have a seat at my table, pour yourself a pint and enjoy!
